East Cambridge Gem

Cambridge, Massachusetts is a city much better known for world-class universities than world-class tacos, but some people believe this is starting to change. A handful of hip yet down-to-earth taco establishments have opened in several neighborhoods over the past five years or so.

Today, Katie needed to run some errands in East Cambridge, and we needed a bite to eat. Tucked away in an unassuming food court off the beaten path, we found what we needed.

Andy ordered a basic hard-shelled taco with seasoned ground beef. While the fillings were sparse, they were tasty, and the shell itself was also flavorful, not to mention delightfully crunchy. The taco fillings themselves were mild, but a variety of sauce choices was available. Andy chose a spicy red chile sauce, though not the hottest option on the menu.

Katie ordered a simple bean and cheese burrito with rice. The flour tortilla was soft, and the rice was perfectly cooked (note: Katie is a stickler about over/undercooked rice). There was a slight spice, giving this burrito an edge but not enough to call it "spicy". A smooth queso sauce united all of the flavors.

Overall, a savory, satisfying treat for a Sunday outing.
